BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Men’s Soccer team advanced to the second round of the TCCC Playoffs on Saturday as they defeated the Colonels from Curry College by a score of 2-1. The Colonels led 1-0 after the first half, but the Hawks battled back scoring two unanswered goals to secure the victory and move on.

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College sophomore goalkeeper Brian Newsome (Lawrenceville, N.J.) recorded a pair of shutouts in crucial TCCC matches against WNEC and Nichols, the two squads from last years conference championship game. Newsome was called upon to make 14 saves to preserve a 2-0 win over WNEC, and also made five saves to secure the Colonels 2-0 victory over Nichols.

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College senior Ben Radzicki (Sterling, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner and also added an assist to lead the Colonels to a 3-1 victory over Framingham State in the team’s second game of the season. The Colonels opened up the year with a 0-0 draw against Westfield State. The Colonels have an overall record of 1-0-1 and 0-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

MILTON, Mass. - Western New England College, two-time defending champions of The Commonwealth Coast Conference, has been selected as the favorite to win the 2009 TCCC men’s soccer championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league’s head men’s soccer coaches.
