Framingham, Mass.  — Junior Suzanne Jensen (Framingham, Mass.) scored the game winner in the 51st minute as the Curry College women’s soccer team defeated the Framingham State University women’s soccer team 3-2 at Maple Street Field.  The Colonels improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Rams move to 0-2.

The Colonels took a 1-0 lead at the 15:02 mark as Brittney McLaughlin (Wilmington, Mass.) found senior Laura Lydon (Riverside, RI), who connected for the game’s first goal.  The Rams came roaring back and tied the game as sophomore forward Laura Gray (Chicopee, Mass.) collected a rebound in the box and knocked it home for her first goal of the season.

Framingham State took their first lead of the game in the 38th minute as sophomore Kirsten Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) knocked home a direct kick from 35-yards out putting the Rams up 2-1.  The Rams lead would prove to be short lived as Curry tied the score in the closing minutes of the half.  After a Rams defensive miscue in front of the net, McLaughlin collected a loose ball and flicked it ahead to Kelly Howe (Walton, NE) who tallied her first goal of the game.

Just five minutes into the second half, Jensen would score the game winner as she collected a thru ball and broke away from the Rams defense and beat the keeper with a well placed shot.  The Rams struggled to generate good scoring chances late in the second half as they were called for seven offsides including several in the last five minutes.  They were hit with 12 offsides in the game, while the Colonels were called for none.

Curry goalie Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) made eight saves en route to the win, while Kaitlyn Rossi (Pepperell, Mass.) also made eight in a losing effort for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Keene State College at 4 p.m., while the Colonels (2-1) host Roger Williams on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
