SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second time in three weeks, David Griffin (Hanover, Mass.) has been named as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Additionally, Griffin snagged his second Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Pitcher of the Week award of the season.
Griffin enjoyed a big week, going 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 13 total innings of work. Griffin's top performance was a 14-strikeout complete game victory over first-place Roger Williams, which has lost just two of 12 CCC games this season. In the 4-2 victory, Griffin scattered four hits and walked just one. Earlier in the week, Griffin picked up a non-conference win over Becker. In six innings of work, Griffin permitted just one run on just two hits and two walks, while striking out seven.
Griffin and the Colonels return to action on Monday at Salve Regina in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
