Eight Colonels Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Curry College football and women's volleyball programs combined for eight honorees on Tuesday afternoon when the College Sport Communicators announced its Academic All-District Teams.
Representing the Curry football team were senior offensive lineman Mike Broomstein (Abington, Mass.), junior long snapper Joe Fusaro (Westerly, R.I.), senior defensive back Kevin Peete (Boston, Mass.), junior linebacker Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.), and senior punter Geoff Wilson (North Attleboro, Mass.).
The Curry women's volleyball program was represented by senior libero/defensive specialist Amber Buttaro (Tewksbury, Mass.), senior outside hitter Lauren Guzman (Cranston, R.I.), and junior libero Avia Fraine (Mattapoisett, Mass.).
To be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, an athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, and be a starter or significant reserve on their respective team.
The octet joins Curry soccer players JD Santiago (La Plata, Md.) and Samantha Borges, who earned Academic All-District honors last week.
As Academic All-District honorees, all eight Colonels earn spots on the ballot for Academic All-America recognition, which will be announced in December.
