Pasadena, CA - The Curry Baseball team kicked off their 2026 season on Monday, beating Caltech 13-3.
The Colonels scored their first run of the season in the first inning on an Anthony Figueroa sacrifice fly. They then added two runs in the third, one on a ground out, the other on a Figueroa single. After the Beavers got one back in the bottom of the fifth, the Colonels broke things open with five runs in the sixth. Jorge Rodriguez, Michael Frausto, and Yadiel Santos all had RBI hits in the inning. The Colonels added four more runs in the seventh, highlighted by an Anthony Figueroa RBI double.
It was a great day at the plate for the Colonels, as six different players recorded multiple hits. Anthony Figueroa had four RBIs, while Danny Leyva had three.
Jack Keane started on the mound for the Colonels, going five innings, allowing just four hits and one walk. He struck out six. Ryan Crowley then pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs.
