Los Angeles, CA - The Curry Baseball team fell on Friday 15-5 to Occidental in California, dropping to 1-4 on the season, while the Tigers are now 13-4.
The Colonels got out to a 1-0 lead on an Aaron Siegal sac fly in the first. After the Tigers tied things up in the second, Siegal put the Colonels back up in the third with a solo homerun, his first of the year. The Colonels went up 3-1 later in the inning on a Blake Fuller RBI double. The Tigers clawed back once again, tying things up with two runs in the fourth. Curry, not to be out done, scored two in the fifth, one on a bases loaded walk, and the other on a sac fly. Occidental got one back in the sixth to make it 5-4, and that is how things would stay until the bottom of the eighth, when the Tigers scored 11 runs, and winning 15-5.
The Colonels had 12 hits, with Danny Leyva, Brandon Mantilla-Mercado, Jasiah Rodriques, and Blake Fuller each recording two.
Jack Keane started on the mound for the Colonels, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing 2 hits and three earned runs. Mike Riordan was handed the loss after pitching 2.2 innings, allowing five hits and seven earned runs. The Colonels pitching staff walked a total of 10 batters, compared to just one strikeout.
