Football Cruises to Easy Win
Milton, MA - The Curry Football team defeated Dean on Saturday by a final score of 52-12. The Colonels are now 2-1, while the Bulldogs are 0-4.
The Colonels started hot, and didn't look back. They scored on a 42-yard TD run by Montie Quinn on just the second play of the game. After forcing a punt, Quinn scored again on a three yard rush. The defense held strong, and the offense followed with another TD, this time a 38-yard pass from Anthony Santino to Kareem Chaplin II. It was Chaplin II's first career touchdown. That gave the Colonels a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, and they would double it in the second quarter. The next TD was another from Quinn, but it was through the air, a 21-yard TD reception for the All-American, the first receiving TD of his storied career. The next offensive drive saw another long TD pass for Santino, this time a 35-yard score to Colin Ridley. After another stop from the defense, Quinn scored his 4th TD of the day, and third on the ground, this time from five yards out. It was his 7th rushing TD of the year, and 43rd of his career, putting him just one behind Raphael Zammit for the most rushing touchdowns in a career. That gave the Colonels a 42-0 lead at halftime. They would add a TD and FG in the third, al while coasting to a 52-12 win.
While it wasn't his usual high yardage numbers, Quinn had a great day in the office, rushing for 111 yards on 10 attempts, and the three TDs. He also had the TD reception. Wesley Williams and Colin Ridley each had five receptions for over 70 yards. Quarterback Anthony Santino had an efficient 15-18 day in the pocket, throwing for 215 yards and three TDs.
Defensively, Albert Pujols led the team with six tackles. Kicker Omar Aboutoui nailed all seven XPs, and a 29 yard FG.
For the Colonels, the 52 points are tied for the 8th most in program history, and was the second time since 2016 that they scored 50+ points. The other time came in a 50-0 win over this same Dean team last season. The Colonels are now 5-0 all-time against Dean.
