Quinn Named Recipient of New England Football Writers College Division Season Gold Helmet Award
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Curry College running back Montie Quinn has been named recipient of the New England Football Writers (NEFW) College Division 2025 Season Gold Helmet award presented annually to the most valuable player in Divisions II and III. The award will be presented at the NEFW Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 11, at the Sheraton Framingham (Mass.) Hotel and Conference Center.
Quinn, a native of Goose Creek, S.C, and a graduate of Stratford High School, has led the Colonels to an 8-2 record and second place in the Conference of New England (CNE). The Colonels will appear in the CNE-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fusion Bowl on Friday, November 21, at Curry against NEWMAC runner-up Merchant Marine Academy.
Quinn leads all of NCAA football with 2,436 rushing yards and is second among all Divisions with 27 rushing touchdowns and average per carry of 10.07. The touchdowns and the average lead Division III. His 2,436 rushing yards are a New England Division III record eclipsing the mark set by Husson University's John Smith in 2017 by 194 yards.
Quinn went over the 100-yard mark in all 10 of Curry's games in 2025. He had seven games of 200+ yards, breaking the New England Division III single season record by two. His 522 yards against Nichols College in October set a new single game NCAA all-Division rushing record. He is the New England Division III record holder in All-Purpose Yards for a game (527) and season (2,533), and is 98 yards shy of the New England Division III career mark with 7,852 yards. He has been named the 2025 Conference of New England Offensive Player of the Year.
Quinn is the first Curry College player to receive the Season Gold Helmet in the 50 years the award has been presented.
