MILTON, Mass. – Director of Athletics Vinnie Eruzione is pleased to announce Phil Alibrandi as the new head coach of the men's basketball program.

Alibrandi will make his collegiate head coaching debut with the Colonels after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team. In their latest season of competition, Alibrandi helped lead the Leopards to the semifinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament for the second time in four years.

Alibrandi's trip to Milton is a familiar one, as he previously served as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program prior to his stint with Wentworth.

"I'm very excited that Phil Alibrandi is returning to Curry College," said Eruzione. "His commitment to DIII men's basketball for the past ten years has proven that this is where he wants to be. Phil will be an excellent and tireless recruiter for our men's basketball program and the College."

Prior to his time with the Colonels, Alibrandi was an assistant coach at Emerson College, and before that, was an assistant at his alma mater, Regis College, from 2011-2014.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the Curry College men's basketball program," said Alibrandi. "I would like to thank President Quigley, Vinnie Eruzione and all those on the search committee for believing in my coaching philosophies and values. I would also like to thank all the coaches that have helped me get here, especially Nate Hager and Arlen Galloway, who allowed me to gain valuable experience while being a part of their basketball programs. I am excited by the infinite potential that Curry offers and cannot wait to get to work with our student-athletes."

Alibrandi was a four-year varsity standout on the Regis College men's basketball team, and served as team captain during his sophomore, junior, and senior year. He is among the select few student-athletes to reach 1,000 career points with the Pride, and is ranked in the top ten in scoring, rebounding, and assists in program history.

"His success in all aspects of the game speaks volumes about Phil as a character person who will bring quality student-athletes to Curry College.  Phil was highly recommended, and we feel very fortunate that he will be leading our men's basketball program," said Eruzione.

A York, Maine native, Alibrandi graduated from Regis in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and earned a Master of Science degree in Health Administration in 2014, also at Regis.

Alibrandi and the Colonels are set to tip off on Wednesday, November 10 for the season-opener against Dean College in Katz Gymnasium.
