Hockey Captures 4-2 Decision at Becker College
Marlborough, Mass.- Becker College fell 4-2 to Curry College in ECAC Northeast men’s hockey action Wednesday evening at the New England Sports Center.
The Colonels got on the board just 2:10 into the game when John Williams (Flourtown, Penn.) ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net. Curry added to their lead 30 seconds later when Steven Mohler (Yorba Linda, Calif.) beat Becker goalie Jake Rosenthal glove side on a one-timer, making the score 2-0.
The Ice Hawks answered back in the 6th minute when junior David Graham (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) collected a rebound in front, putting it back for his second goal of the season. Curry regained their two goal advantage with 2:51 remaining in the first period when Jordan Reed (Ajax, ON.) collected a loose puck in front, tapping it over the outstretched arms of a sprawling Jake Rosenthal.
In the second period the Colonels increased their lead to 4-1 when Payden Benning (Estevan, SK.) redirected a shot off the cross bar and into the net for his second goal of the season.
The Ice Hawks got a third period goal from Korby Anderson (Owantonna, Minn.) when his shot trickled over the right leg pad of Curry goalie Derek Mohney (Amherst, N.Y.), making the score 4-2.
Jake Rosenthal turned away 51 shots in a losing effort. The loss drops Ice Hawks record to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the ECAC Northeast. Becker will return to action on Saturday, November 19th when they host ECAC Northeast opponent Nichols College at 4p.m. Derek Mohney made 20 saves as the Colonels improved their record to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the ECAC Northeast.
