Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team played the rare Tuesday game, and took down the Western New England Golden Bears 6-2. The nationally ranked Colonels are now 10-4-0 on the season, and 7-2-0 in CNE play. The Golden Bears are 3-11-0 and 1-8-0.
The Colonels wasted no time at all, as Jett Otwell scored just 12 seconds into the game. But WNE answered with a power play goal just over five minutes in. Exactly four minutes later, Victor Daigneault put the Colonels back up, and they led 2-1 after the first period.
Jesse Galassi put the Colonels up 3-1 five minutes into the second, but once again WNE answered with a power play goal shortly after.
In a game that was a little closer than expected headed into the third, the Colonels made sure to leave no doubt, as they outscored the Golden Bears 3-0 in the third period. They got goals from Chance Uzzell, Taurin Haddon-Harris, and Casper Soderling.
On top of the goal scorers, both Mason Kesselring and Andrew Morton each had two assists.
In net, the Colonels started freshman Ryan Rhodes, who was making his collegiate debut. He stopped 28 of 30 shots
The Colonels dominated the game, winning 41 of the 62 faceoffs, and outshooting WNE 43-30.
