Men’s Soccer Secures 1-0 Victory Over Framingham State
Curry College men's soccer secured a 1-0 win on Tuesday night after fending off a late surge by the Rams of Framingham State
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team picked up a hard-fought 1-0 non-conference victory over Framingham State University on Tuesday night at Walter M. Katz Field. The result moves the Colonels to 2-5-2 on the season, while the Rams drop to 4-4-0.
The decisive moment came in the 33rd minute, when sophomore defender Nick Silvia delivered his first career goal in a Curry uniform. Silvia finished calmly inside the box off a well-placed setup from Aiden Grafton, putting the Colonels ahead 1-0. The goal capped a strong opening half in which Curry generated 11 shots, forcing Rams goalkeeper Colin Holt into three first-half saves.
Framingham State looked to respond after halftime, pressing forward with seven second-half attempts. They had several chances including some heading into the final minutes, but Curry goalkeeper Justin Ritz came up with key stops to preserve the shutout. Ritz finished the evening with four saves on nine total shots faced, earning his first win of the year.
Curry continued to threaten on the counterattack, with Kaden Puglia leading the charge. The junior forward fired three shots on goal but was denied each time by Holt, who recorded five saves to keep the Rams within reach. Late attempts from Ryan Koster and Jose Comella also tested the Framingham defense, but the Colonels' lone first-half strike held up.
Defensively, Curry stood tall under pressure, turning away multiple set-piece opportunities as Framingham State earned five corner kicks on the night. Ritz and the back line stayed organized in the closing minutes, helping secure the team's first shutout of the season.
The Colonels outshot the Rams 15-9 overall and held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Curry will look to build on the momentum with a CNE matchup slated for Saturday against Suffolk at 3 PM.
