Men's Volleyball Stopped by Emmanuel
Boston, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team fell to Emmanuel on Wednesday in four sets by a score of 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16. The Colonels are now 3-6 on the season, while the Saints are 5-5.
The Saints grabbed an early lead in the first set, and the Colonels played from behind all the way until late when they took a 20-19 lead. But a 3-0 run by the Saints gave them a two point lead, and the two teams would trade the last six points back and forth, giving the Saints the 25-23 set win.
The second set saw the Saints just continuously build a lead, and take the set 25-16. But the Colonels would not go down without a fight, and won the third set 25-21 despite trailing 12-5 early. They did it with a pair of 4-0 runs and a massive 7-0 run. The Colonels then kept the momentum in the fourth, taking an early four point lead. But they would run out of gas, as the Saints scored eight of the last nine points of the set, and the match.
The offense for the Colonels was centered around Chris Milfort, as he had 17 of the team's 34 kills. Of those 34 kills, 27 were assisted by Nyko Whitaker. The teams' two liberos collected a majority of the digs, with Braden Alpert getting 19, and Nicholas Watson getting 15.
The Colonels made sure they were making an impact at the net, as four different player recorded at least five blocks, led by Jayden Garcia who had seven block assists and one solo block.
