Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team beat Wheaton on Friday night in five sets by a score of 25-21, 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 15-7. The Colonels are now 7-8 on the season, while the Lyons are 6-9. Later in the night the Colonels took down Fisher 3-0 by a score of 25-4, 25-12, 25-20, moving to 8-8 on the season. The Falcons are now 0-10.
Match One vs Wheaton
The Colonels went up 10-5 in the first set, but things would wind up tied at 11. A 4-0 run from the Colonels gave them a lead, but the Lyons responded and things sat tied at 21-21. The Colonels would win the final four points of the set to take it 25-21. The second set was another close set, and the Colonels trailed 22-19 after a Wheaton 4-0 run. But a 4-0 run of their own gave Curry a 23-22 lead, and they eventually took the set 26-24.
Wheaton led for the majority of the third set, and while the Colonels kept things close, the Lyons grabbed the set 25-22. The fourth set was once again close, but the Lyons won it 25-23 to force a fifth set.
In the fifth set the Colonels took over, and coasted to a 15-7 set win, winning the match 3-2.
Curry was led by Nicholas Watson's 24 kills, and then Chris Milfort's 15 kills was right behind him. Nyko Whitaker was the center of the offense with 42 assists. Watson recorded a double-double with a team-high 10 digs.
Match Two vs Fisher
This match was a run away win for the Colonels, and their starters sat out a majority of the match. The only available player to not play for the Colonels was Milfort, who got some time to rest. Nine different players recorded a kill, led by Connor Tran and LJ Hernandez with five each. Senior captain Connor Kennedy led the team with 15 set assists, and recorded eight service aces.
