Women's Basketball Overpowered by Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's basketball team dropped a 93-24 decision to Roger Williams University Monday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
With the loss, Curry falls to 3-14 overall on the season and 0-10 in league action.
Curry's offense struggled to get much going in the opening quarter, making just two buckets in the period, and Roger Williams capitalized. The Hawks outscored Curry 28-5 in the frame to take a 23-point lead after one.
Two Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine) three-pointers were Curry's only baskets of the second quarter, as Roger Williams extended its lead further to 49-13 at the intermission.
The Hawks continued to outpace Curry in the second half, leading Curry 44-11 after the break to seal the decisive victory.
Curry was led by Gray, who notched 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Junior Kaitlyn Smith (Hull, Mass.) chipped in seven points in the defeat.
The story of the night was Roger Williams senior center Karli Opalka, who scored 32 points on 16-of-20 shooting with 12 rebounds and five steals in just 21 minutes of action.
Curry will return to action on Wednesday night, traveling to the University of New England for a 5 p.m. tipoff in Biddeford, Maine.
