Colonels Drop Home Opener vs Babson
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's basketball team dropped its home opener Monday night, falling 78–46 to a strong Babson College squad in non-conference action inside Katz Gymnasium. The Beavers' efficient shooting and depth proved too much for the Colonels, who showed stretches of solid play behind senior leadership and hustle.
Senior Lauren Dunn led Curry with a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding three rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Dunn was a steady offensive force throughout, knocking down a three-pointer and attacking the basket effectively to keep the Colonels within reach early on. Junior Kasey Reeves contributed seven points, including a three-pointer and two free throws, while junior Lauren Morse added five points and two assists.
Senior Libby Harris came off the bench to spark the offense with five points on 2-of-3 shooting, while freshman Olivia Roy hit a key three-pointer and provided energy on both ends. Junior Sophie Hilbrunne added four points, two rebounds, and a block, and senior Samantha Conti contributed four rebounds, two assists, and two points.
As a team, Curry shot 41.9% (18-of-43) from the floor and 29.4% (5-of-17) from three-point range, but struggled to keep pace with Babson's fast-paced offense and hot shooting night. The Beavers shot 55.4% from the field and connected on seven three-pointers, out-rebounding Curry 36–20 and forcing 23 turnovers that led to key transition points.
Babson was led by Emily Flynn, who scored 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Chloe Perreault and Samantha Reale each added 12 points. Alyssa Hopps posted 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench, helping Babson pull away in the middle quarters.
After falling behind 25–13 in the first quarter, the Colonels battled hard in the second to stay within striking distance, but Babson's 20–7 third quarter sealed the outcome.
Curry (0–1) will look to bounce back on Thursday, November 13th, when the Colonels travel to take on New England College in another non-conference matchup.
