Colonels Drop First CNE Game of the New Year, 63-53 at Endicott
BEVERLY, MA – The Curry College women's basketball team battled the Gulls of Endicott College in a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup on Saturday. However, they would ultimately come up short dropping the contest in MacDonald Gymnasium by a final score of 63-53
Endicott set the early tempo, jumping out to a 19–13 lead after the first quarter and extending its advantage to 36–23 at halftime. Despite the deficit, the Colonels remained composed and began to find their rhythm as the game wore on.
Curry delivered its strongest stretch in the third quarter, outscoring Endicott 16–14 to cut into the margin. Ella Palanza led the charge throughout the game for the Colonels, finishing with a game-high 16 points to go along with six rebounds. Samantha Conti was also efficient offensively, scoring nine points on 3-of-4 shooting, while also contributing four rebounds and two assists. Lauren Dunn added a well-rounded performance with eight points, four assists, four rebounds, and three steals, providing steady leadership on both ends of the floor.
The Colonels continued to battle in the fourth quarter, matching Endicott with 14 points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Curry shot 41.7 percent from three-point range, connecting on five of its 12 attempts from beyond the arc, and finished the game shooting just shy of 40% percent overall. At the free-throw line, Curry converted 12 of 16 attempts, which included a 7-for-11 performance from Palanza.
Defensively, Curry forced 14 Endicott turnovers and recorded eight steals, with contributions from multiple players. Grace Fleuriel added six points and four rebounds off the bench, while Jess LaFlamme knocked down a three-pointer and provided strong minutes in the backcourt.
Endicott was paced by balanced scoring, with Tenley Wallin and Emma Shinney each scoring 12 points, and the Gulls' depth helped maintain control late.
With the loss, Curry continues its conference slate on Tuesday afternoon at home, hosting the Hawks of Roger Williams at 5:30 PM in Katz Gymnasium.
