Canton, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team used some early scoring to defeat Manhattanville for the second straight day, beating the Valiants 3-1. The Colonels are now 2-0 on the season.
The Colonels played a little bit faster on Saturday compared to Friday, and got on the board 14 minutes into the game on Darby Marshall's first collegiate goal. Less than two minutes later, Grace Inoue scored her second goal in as many days, deflecting an Anna Kahl shot from the point. Manhattanville cut the lead in half early in the second, but Curry got it back just four minutes later, as Kylie Harrison scored her first career goal. Neither team would score in a penalty filled third period, so the final score would hold at 3-1.
The faceoff circle was pretty even, with the Valiants holding a small 30-27 advantage. But despite that, the Colonels controlled play, and outshot their opponents 47-23.
Coriann Hoag picked up the win once again, stopping 22 of the 23 shots she faced.
On the weekend, four different Colonels scored their first collegiate goals, which will be a common theme for the young Colonel team.
Up Next - The Colonels will jump into conference play next Friday, as the travel to Suffolk.
