East Boston, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team improved to 3-0-0 on the season in their conference opener on Friday, beating Suffolk 6-3. It was the Rams' first game of the year.
Curry opened the scoring about eight minutes into the game on an unassisted Darby Marshall goal. The Rams answered seven minutes later, but the Colonels would retake the lead just before the first intermission on a Kylie Harrison goal. The lone goal of the second period came from the Rams, and sent the game into the third period tied at two.
The third period was all Colonels, as they outscored the Rams 4-1. Harrison scored her second goal of the game a minute into the period, and then Ava Doyle scored a few minute later on the power play. While the Rams would respond a minute later with a power play goal of their own, the Colonels would regain the two goal advantage on yet another power play goal, this time from Alaina Holmes, the first goal of her career. The Colonels would add one final goal, and empty net and short handed goal from Morgan Slough.
The Colonels outshot the Rams 40-30, but lost the faceoff battle 32-25. Curry goalie Coriann Hoag stopped 27 saves to earn her third win of the year.
Up Next - The two teams will faceoff again on Saturday, as the Colonels will host the Rams at 4pm.
