BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1–0 decision to Endicott College on Wednesday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Hempstead Stadium. Despite a relentless defensive effort, the Colonels were unable to find the back of the net as the Gulls scored the game's lone goal late in the first half.
Curry (4–8–5, 1–5–3 CNE) stood tall against an aggressive Endicott (10–7–1, 7–3–0 CNE) offense that outshot the Colonels 30–0 across 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Lexi Smardon was stellar between the posts, turning away 10 saves while facing constant pressure throughout the match. Her performance kept Curry within striking distance from start to finish.
The breakthrough for Endicott came in the 44th minute when Finley Barker converted a pass from Sofia Agudelo, slotting the ball past Smardon to give the hosts a 1–0 lead just before halftime. The Gulls continued to create chances in the second half, tallying 14 shots and 12 corner kicks in total, but Smardon and the Curry backline held firm to prevent any further damage.
Defenders Abigail Hart, Gabriella Wiesner, and Laney Phillips anchored a disciplined Curry defense that absorbed sustained attacks, while midfielders Megan Hudson and Adelina Young worked tirelessly to disrupt Endicott's rhythm. Despite limited attacking opportunities, the Colonels showed composure and organization throughout the match, forcing Endicott to earn every look at goal.
With the loss, Curry remains competitive in the CNE standings as they look to regroup ahead of their next matchup. The Colonels will return home to Walter M. Katz Field on Saturday, October 25, when they host University of New England in their final home conference contest of the regular season.
