MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team lost in its final regular season non-conference match to Bridgewater State, 7-2, at the Big Nine Courts on Monday afternoon.

The Colonels earned one point in the singles matches and one in the doubles. 

In singles at the #2 spot, junior Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.) earned her teams point by knocking off her opponent, senior Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.), 7-6, (6-8), 6-2.  At the top slot junior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) lost to junior Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.), 1-6, 3-6, at #3 freshman Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) was defeated by senior Brittney Hislop (Burley, Wash.), 3-6, 5-7, at #4 freshman Alison Vautrin (Somerset, Mass.) conquered junior Lauren Chuha (Lynnfield, Mass.), 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, at #5 senior Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) took care of junior Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.), 6-1, 6-4 and in the final singles match, senior Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) was bested by sophomore Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.), 3-6, 2-6. 

In doubles, the Colonels earned a point when Mongello and classmate Mulrooney beat Williamson and Hopp, 8-5 at #1.  Bridgewater earned the next two points at #2 and #3.  At #2, Pereira and Hislop defeated Chuha and Love, 8-2 and in the final doubles match junior Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Zarakades were overpowered by Vautrin and sophomore Rachel Eramo (Rowley, Mass.), 8-6. 

With the loss Curry concludes the regular season non-conference schedule with a 9-6 overall record. The Colonels will travel to Nichols College on Wednesday, October 17 in the 2012 CCC Women's Tennis Tournament Semi-final match starting at 2:00 p.m. The number four-seeded Colonels will play the number one-seeded Nichols College.  Bridgewater State improves to 11-2 on the season.  The Bears are the top seed in this week's Little East Tournament and have a first round bye.  They will host a semi-final match on Thursday, October 18 at 3:00 PM.
