Women's Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Newbury Despite Strong Serving and Solid Team Effort
MILTON, Mass. – The Newbury College women’s volleyball team defeated Curry College in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-15) on Thursday night at The Student Center Gymnasium. With the win the Nighthawks improve to 5-10 overall, while the Colonels fall to 0-12.
The Colonels demonstrated an excellent team effort in tonight’s match. Curry was able to adjust well against a strong hitting Newbury team which helped them stay in the game. Strong serving was the highlight as the Colonels only missed three the entire evening.
Curry’s second match was their best as they took an early 5-1 lead and twice had three unanswered points, but the Nighthawks were able come back and hold on for the win.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Poirier (Acushnet, MA) lead the team offensively with nine assists and two digs. Senior Valerie Harrison (East Boston, MA) had six kills and sophomore Kendra LeMay (Chicopee, MA) and freshman Jessica Crugnale (North Reading, MA), each had two.
