Milton, MA - The Curry Women's Volleyball team fell in their conference opener on Wednesday, losing to RWU 25-10, 25-16, 25-14. The Colonels are now 4-8, while the Hawks are also 4-8.
The Hawks slowly built a 12-8 lead in the first set, and then went on an 11-0 run to take control, before winning the set 25-10.
The second set saw the Colonels hold a brief lead, but the Hawks quickly took over again, and won the set 25-16.
The third set got off to a rough start for Curry, as the Hawks won the first 11 points. While the Colonels were unable to get back into the set, they did play the Hawks even 14-14 after the tough start, eventually dropping it 25-14.
Kyla Martin led the Colonels with eight digs, just ahead of Meghan Abbott's six. No one else had more than two. As a team, the Colonels had 20 kills, and Jasmyne Fillippini assisted on 18 of them. She also led the team with nine digs, one ahead of Faith Edgehille's eight.
Up Next - The Colonels will travel to UNE next Tuesday for a 7pm match.
