Blaise Denson Sets New Program Record at Pop Crowell Invitational
Wareham, MA - The Curry Cross Country team had a very successful day on Saturday at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon.
Prior to Saturday no runner in program history had broken the 30-minute mark in the 8k. The Colonels had two runners do just that, as Blaise Denson set the new program record of 28:31.51, good for 21st in the race. Behind him in 31st place was the previous record holder, Alex Nason. He posted a new PR with a time of 28:59.15. Next was Paul Alfonso, who ran his second best time in his career with a race time of 32:54.96. Sophomore Chance Payton rounded things out for the men, running a 36:50.20.
While only two members of the women's team participated, Mackenzie Husson made sure to make it count, as she posted a new PR of 26:30.07 in the 6k. That was 14 seconds better than her previous best, and was just six seconds behind the program record.
Up Next - The Colonels will hit the course again next week at the Travis Fuller Invitational at Mass. Maritime.
