Canton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team had no trouble taking on Keene State on Friday, beating the first-year program 9-1/ The Colonels are now 12-3-0, while the Owls move to 5-8-1.
Wasting no time, the Colonels got on the board four minutes in when Manny Cabral deflected a shot by Ryan Prewitt. George Vonakis, Blake Rothstein, and Casper Soderling each added goals of their own, making it 4-0 after one period. Picking up where they left up, Nolan McDonough scored just a minute into the second. Shane Carr and Eelis Laaksonen each joined the party later in the period. After the Owls scored a goal late in the second, both Rothstein and Laaksonen scored their second goals of the game in the third to give the Colonels the 9-1 win.
Twelve different Colonels recorded a point, with eight recording multiple points. The Colonels outshot the Owls 54-15, and dominated the faceoff battle 43 to 16.
Making his first career start, Cam Smith made 14 saves in net.
