Colonels Fall to Plymouth State in Non-conference Action

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Curry College Women's Ice Hockey fell to the Panthers of Plymouth State University 2-1 on the road Saturday afternoon at Hanaway Rink.
With the loss, Curry continues its season with a record of 2-1-0.
The hosting Panthers opened up scoring in the non-conference bout, Addie Swanson finding the back of the net 3:52 into the contest. Ten minutes later, Plymouth State tallied their second goal, Meghan Hamilton netting a strike to grant the Panthers a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Colonels marked their first goal of the afternoon on a power-play opportunity as freshman Megan Sawatzky (Lemont, Ill.) found the back of the net past Plymouth's Amelia Julian. Curry's Tommi Nash (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and Seneca Urban (Superior, Colo.) were credited with the assists on the Colonels' opening goal. Just 3:48 later, Curry tied the matchup on another power-play goal, this time by freshman Katie Courteau (Warroad, Minn.). Coureau's tying strike was assisted by Ella Altiman (Chatham, Ontario) and Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.).
The Panthers netted a third goal midway through the third period, sealing the win on home ice for Plymouth State.
Curry's freshman netminder Sarah Kerr (Cochrane, Alberta) turned aside 21 of the 24 shots she faced in the non-conference loss on the road.
Next up for the Colonels, they begin CCC action on Friday night as they travel to Biddeford, Maine to face the UNE Nor'Easters at 7 PM.
