Colonels Capture First Win, Defeat Dean 18-3

Franklin, MA - The Curry College women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday afternoon, defeating Dean College 18–3 at Grant Field. With the victory, the Colonels improve to 1–1 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 0–1.
Dean opened the scoring first, as Ali Murphy found the back of the net at the 11:56 mark of the first quarter. Curry would respond quickly, tying the game just under a minute later when Grace Grosso scored unassisted. The Colonels then took control of the game with four more goals in the quarter. Nicole Michael gave Curry its first lead off a pass from Ella Palanza, before Samantha Sprissler added a man-up goal to make it 3–1. Grosso struck again midway through the period, and Sarah Kelly capped the opening frame with a goal assisted by Sprissler to give Curry a 5–1 advantage after one.
The Colonels continued to build momentum in the second quarter. Palanza scored twice early in the period, including a free-position goal, extending the Colonels' lead to 7–1. Dean briefly halted the run with a goal from Caroline Ramsey, but Curry answered with three more tallies. Kelly scored twice in the quarter, including a man-up goal assisted by Palanza, while Phoebe Sartory added an unassisted marker as Curry carried a 10–3 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the half, Curry kept their foot on the gas, outscoring Dean 7–0 to put the game out of reach. Michael opened the scoring in the period off an assist from Grosso before Grosso added another goal moments later off a feed from Kelly. Kelly then scored again on a pass from Ava Doyle. Sprissler recorded her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Grosso, while Grosso later added a free-position score. Sprissler struck again unassisted, and Madison Mikkola capped the quarter with a goal assisted by Sydney Upham to give Curry a commanding 17–3 lead heading into the final frame.
Curry added one final goal in the fourth quarter as Doyle converted a free-position opportunity with 12:32 remaining to seal the 18–3 victory.
Grosso led the Colonels offensively with four goals and three assists, while Kelly also tallied four goals with one assist. Sprissler finished with three goals and an assist, and Michael added two goals. Palanza recorded two goals and two assists, while Doyle contributed a goal and an assist. The teams 18 goals and +15 goal differential is their biggest margin dating back to April 14th, 2024, where they won 21-3 over Wentworth.
Defensively, Curry controlled possession throughout the contest, finishing with advantages in shots (41–18), ground balls (36–27), and draw controls (13–10). Goalkeeper Alexa Puopolo earned the win in net, making eight saves on 11 shots faced.
