Milton, MA - The Curry College women's lacrosse team put together a dominant all-around performance on Thursday evening, defeating Mass. Maritime, 15–3, at Walter M. Katz Field.
After falling behind 2–0 early, the Colonels responded with four unanswered goals in the opening quarter to take control. Ella Palanza sparked the rally with a pair of goals, while Ava Doyle and Grace Grosso also found the back of the net to give Curry a 4–2 lead after one.
Curry continued to build momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Buccaneers 4–0. Palanza completed her hat trick during the stretch, while Grosso added another tally. Samantha Sprissler and Nicole Michael each contributed goals as the Colonels carried an 8–2 advantage into halftime.
Following a brief exchange in the third, Curry pulled away for good with a strong fourth quarter, netting four more goals. Sprissler led the charge late, finishing with a team-high four goals, while Palanza matched her with four goals and added an assist. Grosso (three goals, two assists) and Doyle (two goals, two assists) paced a balanced offensive effort, and Michael chipped in a goal and two assists.
Defensively, Curry controlled possession throughout, holding a 25–10 advantage in ground balls and limiting Mass. Maritime to just 13 shots. Alexa Puopolo earned the win in net, making nine saves over 60 minutes. With the victory, Curry improves to 3–4 on the season.
