Women's Lacrosse Drops Senior Day Contest to Western New England, 15-6
Milton, MA – The Curry College women's lacrosse team fell to Western New England, 15-6 on Senior Day, Saturday morning at Walter M. Katz Field.
Prior to the start of the contest. The Curry Senior Class of 2026 was recognized for their commitment to the program. The four seniors honored included: Attack #10 Ava Doyle, Defender #12 Ally Selados, Defender #21 Sarah Joseph, and Attack #23 Grace Grosso.
Out of the gate, it was Western New England who set the tone, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening quarter. Curry broke through at the 3:05 mark as Ella Palanza finished a feed from Sarah Kelly to get the Colonels on the board.
Curry carried momentum into the second quarter, opening with goals from Nicole Michael and a free-position strike by Phoebe Sartory to pull within 5-3. Despite the push, Western New England added a free-position goal from Ella Henry to maintain a two-goal cushion heading into halftime.
The game turned decisively in the third quarter, where Western New England erupted for eight goals. Curry's lone goal in the frame came from Kelly off an assist by Michael, but the Golden Bears extended their lead to 13-4 entering the final period.
Curry showed resilience in the fourth quarter as Kelly netted two more goals, including a free-position conversion, to complete her hat trick. However, Western New England added two goals early in the quarter to secure the 15-6 victory.
Kelly led the Colonels with three goals and an assist, while Palanza and Michael each added a goal and an assist. Sartory also contributed a goal in the loss. In net, Alexa Puopolo made eight saves for Curry.
Western New England was paced by Henry and Eves, who each scored four goals, while Allison Cyr dished out four assists.
